Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discuss issues of cooperation in the field of winemaking

An online meeting was held with the participation of the head of the department for attracting investments and implementing industry projects of the Agency for Regulation of the Alcohol and Tobacco Market and Development of Winemaking of Uzbekistan Alexander Akhmedov and the chairman of the Association of Wine Producers and Exporters of Azerbaijan Elchin Madatov, Dunyo news agency reported.

The purpose of the talks was to discuss issues of establishing Uzbek-Azerbaijani cooperation in the field of winemaking.

During the meeting, the Uzbek side provided detailed information on the steps taken by the government of Uzbekistan to develop winemaking, conditions created in the country for foreign investors, and also voiced proposals for investment in the production of wine and other low-alcohol products.

Continuing this topic, Alexander Akhmedov proposed to take part in the acquisition of the state share of enterprises in the industry, put up for auction since April 2021 in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 6167 of February 11 of this year and investing in already operating enterprises.

In turn, the Azerbaijani side, thanking for the information provided, provided information on the country’s achievements in the field of winemaking. It was noted that the establishment of close cooperation in this area can be useful and beneficial for both countries.

Following the online meeting, the parties agreed to consider the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation, providing for the implementation of a wide range of works, including the mutual exchange of experience and knowledge, participation in various exhibitions, fairs and other events held in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
