Uzbekistan will purchase 2 thousand tons of meat of horses and sheep from Mongolia
It is also planned to import 100 thousand heads of living sheep and goats
The Minister of Food, Agriculture and the Slight Industry of Mongolia Enhbayar Zhadambam met with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Mongolia, Farmage Arziev, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Ilzat Kosimov and others.
The parties discussed cooperation in the areas of agriculture, livestock, veterinary medicine and plant quarantine as part of partnership between Mongolia and Uzbekistan.
Minister Enhbayar Zhadambam noted the presence of wide opportunities for short-term cooperation and emphasized the importance of active bilateral ties as the basis of trade and economic relations. He assured that the Mongol sectors of agriculture and light industry support mutually beneficial partnership aimed at protecting the interests of both parties, and expressed his readiness to bring the volume of trade to $ 100 million.
It is noted that Uzbekistan confirmed the purchase plans for 100 thousand heads of living sheep and goats in Mongolia. In turn, Mongolia expressed a willingness to consider the possibility of providing benefits for export duties. An agreement was also reached on the purchase of the first batch in the volume of 2 thousand tons of "free" meat of horses and sheep.
It is reported that Uzbekistan, having solved transport and logistics issues, had already imported 7 thousand heads of living sheep from Mongolia until 2024.
In order to further expand cooperation, Uzbekistan expressed interest in importing the skin, wool and cashmere from Mongolia, and also agreed to exchange experience in the field of fruit and vegetable and light industry.
